You might want to talk to Walter - I recently met photographer Walter Lewis. Through his practice, he is aiming to create bodies of work with the potential to disturb the slumber through which he believes that society is moving to environmental catastrophe. His aim is to work not by highlighting the bad – he says that is all too easy, and has not really worked to date – but by exploring positive alternative practices and ways of seeing. To that end he is currently looking to develop work around land-based sustainable change and the people who carry it out - farmers and growers and the like who are deliberately working in ways that can regain a dynamic contact with the land and can restore and maintain the vitality of both community and biodiversity. Such a photographic record will act as both a legacy - and, in particular, a resource for of those involved in the change – and, through its exhibition and publication, a means of disturbing societys slumber and awaking a practical consciousness. I will be working with Walter in my land-based practice (orchard and forestry) and I encourage you to do the same. You can see his work at spiritoftheland.co.uk/ As well as contributing to Walters work and the change that it will support, the images created would be available for you to use in your marketing and publicity around your project or enterprise. Why not get in touch with Walter to see how it might work for you? He is more than happy to talk and explore what is involved before anyone needs to commit.
