You never know where danger may lurk, when evil might strike. We were innocently eating dinner with Bella at my feet doing her sad eyes begging, watching Channel Twos story about firemen checking home fire alarms when a firemen pressed the button to check a alarm. BEEP !!! Bella the Brave bounced up off the floor, wild eyed, launched herself and scrabbled up into my arms. My fork and bite of cashew chicken went flying as she assumed her guard position. ( Her body tightly pressed to mine with her head thrust under my left arm. ) Admittedly there are a few things that scares Bella the Brave (squirrels, rabbits, robins, blowing leaves, cats, small kittens, loud trucks) but fire alarms are the worst. When a second BEEP sounded Bella shook from head to toe and burrowed further under my arm. No petting, no soft voice, nothing would persuade her to leave her guard position under my arm until I took her into the bedroom. Bedrooms are safe. No squirrel, rabbit nor danged ol cat ever comes into her bedroom. With Edna on one side of her and me on the other Bella the Brave finally knew her people were safe.
