You never know who will ask for a drawing when people are aware that thats your thing. In this case it was the lounge short order cook in the old Royal Hotel whose name Ive now forgotten. He was a quite distinguished elderly Greek who spoke very few words, his English was so so. One day while waiting for an order he asked me something that I had to ask him to repeat several times until it became clear he wanted a portrait of himself for his family back home in Thessaloniki. I felt so honored, took several pics and later when finished gave him a bonus of two for the price of one. He was very happy as was I that he felt so. Apologies for the poor quality of this copy. This would have been done in the mid 80s.Wonder if any of you might remember him?
