You say Kia Kaha, we say E tangi. Let me tell u about this great gracious gorgeous woman that god never deserved to take from our grasps. This woman with such a ngākau mahaki. A giving and caring heart . That without hesitation or deliberation would instantly help any soul who asked. The sort of woman who could take a persons mamae, their pain Their Fears and their whakama or shame And hold it as her own so others may stand tall like the Totara again. Right down to the way, she gave, us the time, to gather an grieve , she let us weep for a matter of days we werent so much surprised, as amazed, she enabled us to mourn her before she went away A woman whos demeanor means shes the glue preventing all from falling apart, Just being in her presence meant that you could feel her love Even in her last moments sailing lifes path, In the hospital with buzzers buzzing and ringers ringing in our ears. The smell of disinfectant sickness and death sent a scent of lord knows what, thru the nose That started messin with our heads , Neglecting our good friend called sleep We crowded the ward in the attempt to ward off Hine nui te po as she loomed To the ears, Foot step taps became bombing BOOMS, As the airy air of hine po like a vulture, waiting on death, circled the room. Wairua had left body, flesh was no longer in sync with the spirit But Her manawa, The thumping beating beautiful drum still abundant with love Kept its rhythm. So it made no sense to me. when to see if she was alive, doctors would start, Using a stethascope in an attempt to listen to her heart. Can you over qualified fools with your white coats and tools not hear the beating drum that is the love of an angel?? I began going crazy, and contemplating, a trip to rarohenga. Like Maui, in the hope I could do one better and introduce the Godess called death to my tewhatewha. Uncle summed it up best in the words of our tipuna. Tihaehaea te Kiri The pain is excruciating but I can feel u here with me With us all. As we breathe, as we talk. I know theres so many people who love u for sure Whom you have been there for, and caught You, were our safety net when wed fall. You. Aunty will continue to live within us for ever more. God. Io matua kore, whoever the hell u are up there do u not understand the result of taking an angel ? My family are followers of our faith, but found it hard to be faithfull I cant describe the feeling any more simply then PAINFULL Some say KIA kaha KIA Maia. We say e tangi e tangi Because we are raised to understand, Crying for love, doesnt make you any less of a man. And as the tides of tears flood waves down my face. Im even more deadly with my patu in hand ! For a while I was hospital hating What good comes from these places, nothing but sickness and death is what I was saying. I saw two mates laying, in there seriously hurting while we were with aunty waiting, it just made my hospital hating , even more crazy no good comes from these places, i was repeatedly saying, untill, (I barely knew her) but this one brilliant lady says to me. “But what about babys”?. And I smiled Because that moment, I remembered not only do people go to hospitals if they get sick or to lose their life, But also to bring life ki te ao marama, guiding new beacons of hope, into this world of light, Without the tears of Ranginui with his rain flow And the time to reflect as Tamanui lets the sun-rays show, we would never see Āniwaniwa the beautiful rainbow. Just know aunty we will forever strive to make u proud. Coz you may not be here, ā kiko with us now. But wherever you are above the clouds, or soaring around, You will be our matariki. The guiding star of hope. That keeps eyes to the sky, but our feet on the ground Because we know youll always be there, looking down We LOVE U!!!!
