You shouldnt promise kids anything until you know it true. Telling a kid that Santa will bring an iPod is foolish. She should be told that Santa knows about her wish, but Santa has been laid off from work, is experiencing age discrimination since over 50, and will probably never have a decent job again unless he takes up crime, makes more sense. Remind that for now Santa can get her cheap crap but dont expect even that to continue. That Christmas will gradually die except for the rich that rip off Santa and their family.
