You think to yourself... maybe this time will be different, so you - TopicsExpress

You think to yourself... maybe this time will be different, so you try to make a change in your life. But immediately, you find yourself even more entangled than before. After a while you come to believe that it is better to keep your wealth. This is miserable, but any further movement only bring even greater misery. You love your wealth, but you have no choice because we believe that we have choices and that we can make changes, and in our situation this is a correct assumption. You do not necessarily to feel worry or guilty about your wealth, but you do need to reach out to the poor. "If you spend yourself in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." Spending yourself often involves more than giving a handout to a poor person, a handout that may very well do more harm than good. We are here on this earth to walk, to help to use our gifts and abilities. And as followers of Jesus Christ, we simply must do better to transform not just the poor but also ourselves. This is the reason I am writing to affect your heart, your mind and your actions. I write with a great deal of excitement about the renewed interest in helping others to exploding short-term mission movement, ministering to the poor at our home, our neighbor and church. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down His life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. (1John 3:16-18).
