You were all very sympathetic to my impatience with one of my rabbits not giving birth last week. Just wanted to update you. Ruby had her rabbits the following morning. It is our 8th litter in our colony, but this is the first one that we are letting go unchecked. She has buried them in a hard-to-check-up-on location. Because shes been a great mom to her first two litters, this time around I am practicing trusting her & not digging up her nest. Its winter, I dont want to chill them. And its stressful to have your roof lifted off! But its so hard!! Are they frozen there on the ground? How many are there? It looks like the hole is packed with hay & ice - did it freeze over? Are there any dead kits that need cleaning out? Are they all being fed? Tonight I went out to check and was granted the privilege of seeing her dig out the entryway. I sat quietly while she nursed them. I heard all the little squeakers, and that right there put my concerns to rest. Her nest is full & squeaky. Once Ruby emerged I could see her big fluffy nest and saw a range of colourings. Im glad I had tonights sighting; it will allow me to remain patient for another week until they start to curiously emerge. Trust!
