You were already my hero, honey, now youre everybodys. -Gold Star Wife Jamie Duffy Our American Hero Sergeant Shane P. Duffy, US Army Hometown: Taunton, MA Shaun was Taunton High football player who hid injuries to stay in the game, a devoted friend, a big-hearted family man, a prankster. He was a spirited, fearless, caring person who looked forward to raising a family and becoming a firefighter like his father. Shane Duffy joined the Army not long after graduating Taunton High School. Shane enlisted in March 2004 and completed basic and advanced individual training at Fort Benning, Ga. was assigned to Fort Drum in August 2004 and served his entire military career with 1-87 Inf. Rgt. Gold Star Wife Jamie Duffy -He was a great husband and father, brother and son and he loved his family. He was very outgoing, funny, loved telling stories, and was also very Irish (and very proud of it ). Here is a picture of my husband, our daughter Mackenzie, and I. It was our last picture together in the airport before he flew back to Iraq. Sergeant Shane P. Duffy 22, died June 4, 2008 from wounds sustained in Sharqat, Iraq, when his unit was attacked by enemy forces using small-arms fire and hand grenades. Sgt. Duffy assigned to the 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y. Forever Remember Sergeant Shane P.
