You will no doubt be aware that Facebook recently allowed pictures to be shown publicly of people, that is both men and women, being beheaded. Not only is it a barbaric act but it is also incredibly stupid of Facebook to allow these pictures to be shown. A large number of the Facebook client base are teenagers and my eldest son is one of them. Needless to say, as a teenager, he was curious so he had a look. He is not a wimp nor is he overly sensitive but he was and is deeply shocked by what he saw. Some may view such a move by Facebook as educational, teaching a generation the barbarism of our times. But on any view it is totally unacceptable that in this day and age, with what we see and hear on the news of the troubles in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, that an organisation such as Facebook goes to these extremes. It is evident that their sense of responsibility both corporate and personal is at risk and deeply flawed. Therefore with effect from today I am cancelling my account. My best wishes to all my friends and connections on Facebook.
