You wouldn’t think Vanuatu has world class breaks, but we do! It’s a well-kept secret between all the locals that live on Efate Island, Port Vila and the tourists that have come to ride the waves. Surfing in Vanuatu is still an undiscovered and developing scene, with mainly Reef Breaks and also some world class breaks around different parts of Efate Island. Best time of the year to catch a wave here is during our wet season so roughly from November through to the end May. The locals love to surf; Pikinini (kids) will find anything from broken canoes to snapped boards and even old doors, to use as surf boards. The Ni-Vanuatu have a deep connection and infinity with the ocean and you will usually always see them near or in the water swimming, fishing or diving and of course surfing for fun.
