YouTube is a wonderful source for obscure but compelling music. This is a link to Song of the Volga Boatmen, sung by the Red Army Choir. Yes, THAT Red Army Choir, formerly know as the Soviet Army Choir. While I, as an Army Cold Warrior, had some serious issues with the USSR a few years ago, you have to recognize beautiful music when you hear it. The soloist is Leonid Kharitonov, who has to be one of the worlds best bass singers. I mean---mortal man cant top this. The power, vigor and the strength of the choir singing behind him is also hard to believe. So, plug in your speakers, sit back and imagine youre in Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow. This recording is 50 YEARS OLD, but it doesnt matter. Great singing doesnt decay with age. https://youtube/watch?v=0tw3g88JtWA
