Young Artists’ Workshop - Friday, May 16th Dear Travis Heights Elementary Families - We are so excited to present the First Annual Young Artists’ Workshop this Friday, May 16th! Similar to the Young Writers’ Workshop and Young Scientists’ Day, this unique event will give our students the opportunity to experience and learn about the many ways in which art can play an important part of their lives, either as a creative outlet or even possibly as a profession. On Friday morning, students in 3rd, 4th & 5th grade will attend two creative workshops led by fifteen Austin artists. These students will have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of artistic presentations including drawing, painting, design, collage, ceramics, photography, music, woodworking, theatre, dance and even paper robots! Students in Pre-K, Kinder, 1st and 2nd will attend exciting presentations by Creative Action, a team of professional artists dedicated to inspiring creative, social and academic development in students through interactive performances involving music, story-telling, puppets and theatre. After the morning workshops, all students will be able to expand their creative thinking with more art projects in their classrooms. We are so thankful to the many artists, teachers and parents who are working to make this special day possible, and look forward to enjoying all the creativity and imagination the Young Artists’ Workshop will inspire in the students of Travis Heights Elementary!
