“Young Invincibles” Expected To Face “Sticker Shock” From ACA Premiums. The Tampa (FL) Tribune (9/16, Shedden) details how the Affordable Care Act is expected to help those with preexisting conditions. According to Health and Human Services estimates, last year, “between 50 million and 129 million Americans (19 to 50 percent) live with a chronic condition insurers might consider ‘pre-existing,’ such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma or cancer.” In order to subsidize those with preexisting conditions, the ACA will have to rely on “Young Invincibles.” According to experts, however, “this is the demographic most likely to get ‘sticker shock’ from the changes.”
