Youngsters to be forced to do community service if they claim benefits. So thats jobs that could have been *paid* jobs if they are jobs that are really needed and, if not, are simply punishment activities to give the kids something to do. Slave labour? How about making the lowest rates of pay a living wage, cease assisiting companies by topping-up their appalling pay, and that would cut masses off the benefits bill. If you disapprove of benefits because they are socialist Id have to point out that in many ways the ConDem gvt is the most socialist for decades BUT they use the socially collected money from us all to bail out the banks, allow tax breaks to big companies, fund unaccountable free schools, pay for war NOT to benefit those at the needy end of society. If we can afford to go to war yet again, surely we should be fighting for a country we can be proud of, not one where the poor are baused just for being poor?
