Your District Attorney Bradley K. “Brad” Greenway is a native of Polk County, North Carolina. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a Navy ROTC scholarship. Following graduation Greenway served more than six years on active duty in the United States Navy. He then enrolled in law school at Campbell University School of Law in Buies Creek, North Carolina where he graduated cum laude in May 1983. Immediately following law school Greenway accepted a position as law clerk for the Honorable Woodrow W. Jones, Chief United States District Judge for the Western District of North Carolina. He served in that capacity until 1986 when he became an associate and later a partner in the Rutherfordton, NC firm of Hamrick, Bowen, Nanney & Dalton, LLP. While in private practice, he was retained as child protective services attorney for the Rutherford County Department of Social Services for twenty years. In 2006 Greenway was elected as the first District Attorney for Judicial District 29A comprised of McDowell and Rutherford Counties when District 29 was divided into Districts 29A and 29B. He was sworn into office on January 1, 2007. After active duty Greenway retained his military status in the United States Navy Reserve. In January 2000 he retired from the Navy Reserve at the rank of Commander. His religious and civic activities have included being a past member of the vestry of St. Francis’ Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton, NC, past director of the PATH women’s shelter, past director of The Learning Tree, Inc., a day care center for developmentally delayed as well as normally developing children, current chairperson of the Rutherford County Criminal Justice Partnership Program and current director of the Community Health Council of Rutherford County. Brad and his wife Melanie are the parents of two grown children, Amanda and Matthew.
