Your Graces, Priests, Deacons and Faithful Of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente Greetings of peace and hope in the midst of the forthcoming Super typhoon Hagupit ( Ruby). The attention of the whole world is now focus in the Philippines due to the entrance of Super Typhoon Hagupit or Ruby as it is expected to hit the Southern Visayas region, the very region that was heavily punished by typhoon Yolanda, and the rest of the Philippines tonight or early morning on Sunday. The stigma of homes being ravaged by flood, people dying because of nowhere to find safety and protection, food supply and medical assistance becomes inadequate are now anticipated to be the very problem of survival of our people and to the nation. God forbid! A nation that was blessed with hospitable and religious people, a nation that was blessed with abundant natural resources is again preparing for another great battle: to win triumphantly over the fury of typhoon Ruby. Everyone is doing his/her share to minimize the impact of destruction to life and property in anticipation to the celebration of a simple, meaningful and joyful Christmas and New Year. As a people we need to be one in prayer and calling God’s help and protection to spare us from further devastation. Our people have so much pain and suffering inflected to us by the agents of the devil ; corruption, greed, poverty, human rights violations, militarization and abuses against humanity especially the women, children and the elderly. I call the attention of the Bishops, Priests and Deacons to open all the churches, chapels and missions of the Iglesia Filipina Independiente to serve as shelter and to offer whatever resources available to add life to our afflicted and needy brothers and sisters. May the Lord Jesus continue to give us strength and courage to be with our people in the midst of crises. The Lord is everywhere “ Be strong and of good courage; be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you whenever you go.(Joshua 1:9). The Most Rev. Ephraim S. Fajutagana,D.D. Obispo Maximo X11
