Your Panthers traveled to Lynchburg, Va to compete in the tough 32 team Liberty Christian Academy Invitational Fri and Sat. After a month and a half of wrestling experience we did not dominate by any means but we did come back home with some victories. 1. Thanks to E squared the wrestling world knows that they cant take PikeView lightly. Ethan Smith watched his first wrestling match Friday night then proceeded to walk away on Saturday with a strong 6th place finish in the 195lb weight class to lead the team. Ethan Donley added to his win column and now has 6 wins and half of them are pins! Donley has been our little big man because he weighs around 215 but has all his wins at the 285 lb weight class. Well done guys!!! 2 The team got the opportunity to visit Liberty Universitys wrestling room and meet Jesse Castro, LUs head coach (My coach 1984 thru 1988) 3 I introduced them to the great wrestling post tournament tradition of gorging themselves at the Waffle House. 4 I think they are sold on attending LUs wrestling camp this summer so shortly after season they will be seeking out odd jobs and sponsors to help them pay for the $325 camp fee 5. They now clearly understand just how very much work we have to do to be successful which was one of my reasons for taking them to such a brutal tournament.
