Your Professional Appraisal “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)” -Heb 10:23(KJV) A profession is something a little more than a job, it is a career for someone that wants to be part of society, who becomes competent in their chosen sector through training; maintains their skills through continuing professional development (CPD); and commits to behaving ethically, to protect the interests of the public. We all rely on professionals at many points of our lives – from dentists to teachers, from pension managers to careers advisers, from town planners to paramedics. We rely on professionals to be experts and to know what to do when we need them to. The bible refers to us Christians and believers, if a teacher teaches, a singer sings, counselor counsels, a lawyer deals with the law, a judge judges……….., that means we are supposed to believe … That is our profession…..’Believe, in season and out of season…. Heb 4:14 says… Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. We are supposed to be addicted to faith, regardless of our circumstances, our default position should be faith, it is our profession. Feelings doesnt count when it comes to been professional, it does not matter how a lawyer is feeling when he/she is supposed to be in court defending his/her client, our feelings/emotions should not stop us from believing, we ought to be professional believers. Usually a professional appraisal is done to check how an individual is doing vis-a vis his/her portfolio. If heaven were to conduct an appraisal on us as ‘Believers’, how well we will do? Do we believe only when it is convenient, or like Abraham we believe against all odds, dogged with our faith? Appraise yourself today as ‘a believer’, how strong , persistent, firm and constant is your faith? Are you moved by sight or by the word or men, or do you truly believe on God’s word all of the time regardless of the circumstance?
