Your Resume Sucks had another awesome night of Sporcle Live – Detroit Trivia at RUB BBQ in Ann Arbor last night. It was our second-to-last game of the season as we try to inch our way back into the top 10 in league standings. Currently sitting at 14th. Even though we were missing almost half our team, we still finished the game with a respectable 111 league points. With 1st place and 2nd place wins. Some sample questions from round one (please excuse paraphrasing and spelling errors): Give one of the two names know as the first battle of the US Civil War. Which actor and actress starred opposite each other in the 2005 movie “Fever Pitch”? What is the minimum age for a US citizen to run for president? What chemical is found in NutraSweet and is almost 200% sweeter than sugar? With 21 games with over 300 yards passing, what QB is the franchise leader for the NY Jets? What female R & B group released the 1993 hit “What a Man”? What actor portrays the character Agent Seeley Booth in the FOX series “Bones”? There was much disappointment for missing this question. The term “Cockney” refers to the working class of which world capitol? What is the common term for the medical condition “diplopia”? We were 3rd place going into the final question with 54 points. We wisely bet zero points on the category of “board games” and ended up taking the first place $15 gift certificate. FQ: What are the names of all 6 categories in the original game of Trivial Pursuit? Even for a bunch of trivia nerds, this category proved harder than expected and everyone got it wrong. Squirrels, pirates or unicorns were not original categories, BTW. Onto round two: What top 10 Rolling Stones song starts out with the line “I was born in a crossfire hurricane”? The splitting of the nucleus of an atom is known as what? At the climax of which Spike Lee movie does “Moogie throw a garbage can through he window of Sal’s Pizzeria”? FB clue question. On Feb 11, 2011, what Egyptian leader resigned at the beginning of the Arab Spring? In the board game Monopoly, what space is designated by the picture of a diamond ring? What is the name of the wife of the band Kiss’s lead singer, Jean Simmons, who appeared in Playboy in 1982? What brand of cookies is associated with the name “Milano”? What major league baseball team plays in PNC Stadium? In what country was celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey born? What kind of tree is depicted on the state flag on Maine? We were running a “perfect natural” (see uploaded picture) going into the mystery round, which is kind of exciting in trivia circles. However, we blew our chance at a perfect game by missing a couple of those questions. Name the musician from their real name: -David Robert Jones -Calvin Broadus - Kathleen Elizabeth Hudson - Stephani Germanotta Sad that we only got 3 out of the 4. Or is it? We were 2nd place going into the final questions with 57 league points and again, wisely bet zero. This time on the category of “NFL”. How many US states have more than one NFL team playing their homes games in them? One team got it right, but we remained in 2nd place for the $10 gift certificate. One more regular season game until the finals. And then, maybe a change of venue for YRS.
