Your Season of Toiling Is Over. Pt. 3. Pst. Andy Eloh. Christ Chapel Int’l Churches, City Worship Ctr. Idi-Agba Titun. Akure. Ondo State. Luke 5:1-7 ( NKJV) “So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat. When He stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.” Last week, I emphasised on the need to dwell on God’s word, if we want to come out of a season of toiling (Romans 10:17). God’s word is His covenant with us. There is nothing that God will do in our lives without His word. So we have to continue to hear and do God’s will. I’m going a step further today in what we need to do in order to get out of a season of toiling. In the fourth verse of our text, Jesus said to Simon “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch”. I want you to take note of the phrase “Launch Out”. To launch out means: -to leave a place for another -to move or take a step forward -to take a giant leap - to begin something such as a plan or introduce something such as a product. Saints of God, a season of toiling is not the right time to sit down and fold your arms and bemoan your situation. It may be painful, stressful and difficult, but nothing will change for you by sitting down and having a ‘pity party’. Those who sit down telling stories of their woes and don’t rise up to launch out, will never get to tell testimonies of victories. Jesus told Simon to launch out, when Simon had already given up and packed business for the day (verses 2 & 5). Jesus told him to launch out at an odd time when fishermen will never go out fishing. But hear me my brothers and my sisters- Man’s time is not God’s time; man’s ways are not God’s way. It may not sound reasonable, but if it is God, go ahead and do it; it may not sound intellectually okay, but if it is God, go ahead and do it, people may be laughing at you when you are taking the step and think you are foolish, but hear me- I will rather be foolish in obeying God than to dwell in the wisdom of men that will bring no profit. Ecclesiastes 3:11. (NKJV) “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end”. 1Cor. 2:9. (NKJV) “But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him." In the book of 2Kings 7: 3-8, the bible tells us the story of four lepers at the gate of Samaria, during the time of famine in the land. They could not enter the city due to famine as this will lead to death as a result of starvation. One of them raised a critical question to the others when he asked them, “Why are we sitting here until we die?” Beloved, there comes a time that you need to ask yourself some thought provoking questions in your season of toiling. -Why am I here? -Is there nothing I can do? -Am I destined to remain in this condition forever? These four lepers decided not to just sit down and watch things happen, nor wonder why things are not happening; they decided to rise up and make things happen. They decided to conquer the fear of not launching out. Beloved, you have to rise up, conquer the fear that is trying to hold you down; rise up and conquer the past shame that is trying to hold you back and launch out; move forward and take a giant leap. There is a common saying that “He that will not throw the dice, can never throw a six”. These lepers launched out and recovered all they had lacked. Child of God, it is time for you to rise up, from past failures; it is time to rise up, from past defeats; it is time to rise up, from past disappointments, and launch out into a new day; a new hour and a new season. Jeremiah 29:11. (GNB) “I alone, know the plans I have for you; plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for”. When you launch out, you are on the way out of your season of toiling, and I declare to you once again in the name of Jesus that- “The drought is over; the curse is broken and your future is bright. Every dry place and every dry season in your life is over. There is a sound of abundance of rain over your life, business, family, marriage, relationship, academics, financial life, career, etc. Your season of toiling is over, in Jesus name. Amen (share ds sermon with a friend on facebook. it continues next wk by God’s grace)
