Your Twin Tiers Forecast ...Gusty winds, a clap of thunder, and locally heavy downpours overnight... ...Windy Christmas Day... Wednesday Night: Windy (wind gusts of 25-45mph, possibly higher in some spots after midnight with cold front passage) with rain and perhaps a thunderstorm. Locally heavy downpours possible. Low 44 Christmas Day/Thursday: Cloudy with rain changing to snow showers. Windy with gusts up to 45mph. Early High 45, temps falling into the 30s. Thursday Night: Partly cloudy and breezy. Low 28 Friday: Partly cloudy. High 45 Friday Night: Mostly clear. Low 30 Saturday: Increasing clouds. High 47 Sunday: Chance for light rain/snow/mix. High 38, Low 29 Monday: Mostly cloudy with a chance for rain or snow showers. High 36, Low 24 Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with a chance for rain or snow showers. High 36, Low 24 Long Range Outlook/Hazardous Weather Outlook: A storm affecting the northeast and Great Lakes could cause travel delays, mainly if you are flying. Any connections to Detroit or Chicago could be delayed. Use caution if you are driving, as wind gusts could cause you change lanes unexpectedly (tonight and Christmas Day). Around the Twin Tiers, I expect to see some locally heavy downpours and gusty winds. This will be a rain event with locally heavy downpours arriving with the front Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. No flooding is expected. Watch for ponding on roads and a buildup of water in poor drainage locations. Winds appear to meet wind advisory criteria (gusts to 40-45mph) Wednesday night into Thursday. Another system will move through Saturday into Sunday with a chance for rain/mix/snow showers. There could be another storm for Monday/Tuesday, but agreement remains poor among models. In the long-long range models are hinting at some colder weather as we start January and have a signal for a storm around the 4th-5th (keep in mind these things can vanish as quickly as they appear, but there has been a signal for the past couple of days. Stay tuned...
