Your fellowmen are your own best and worst critics. I may be wrong, but it is how I have noticed things. And I am talking about humans in general, not just Filipinos. This is honestly one of the reasons why I dont indicate where I come from on my profile page on Wattpad. I want readers to judge my works, NOT me. People tend to either be biased or unreasonably and negatively critical once they get a glimpse of someone elses shallow background without digging deep.
