Your real priorities can be revealed by a careful look at your checkbook, your day planner, your to-do list, and your diary entries. What do I talk about most? What do I spend the most money on? What do I spend my time doing? What do I worry about? What fills the quiet moments of my thoughts and dreams? Think about your priorities. Ask your friends what they hear from you most often. Check with your mate to find out what he believes to be your life goals. Ask a coworker where you focus your conversations. Ask your children what they think is important to you. The answers might be painful... - Some great thoughts from the devotional A Womans Joy that my wonderful mom gave me for Christmas. (but these arent just thoughts for women!) This was really personally convicting for me, as I realized that while I SAY some things are priorities, my actions dont always follow that up. This year, humility and sacrifice are my two key words. For too long, Ive been so completely and utterly focused on what others think of me and being successful by worldly standards. Yet that is so far from what I want my priorities to actually be focused on.
