Your reluctant reporter is far past being reluctant. It was a good name for the first couple of series but at this point Im just obligated. And Im happy to oblige. Anyway...... another double header. Another double header sweep. It wasnt vs. the highest rated competition, but it was a sweep. I tried to find the record for double headers played by a college team in a season so I could cut it down to the best record for double header wins in a season and I couldnt find info in a cursory search.... maybe a serious statistician can refute or confirm the fact that FSU has broken the curve with these wins. Game one started with three hits and the standard one run scored in the top of the 1st. We didnt show on the board til the 4th. Luke had settled in nicely by then. Thats when he had a line drive to the ankle that took him out of the game. The official statement is a lower leg injury. It didnt look bad, but the last thing we need is to lose another pitcher. Strode came in and slayed them for a while. I dont know why we play down so hard to our competition. But that is what we do. We let the gold plated rodents take the lead in the 9th before we answered with a walkoff rbi single by Nogo. Noles win 5-4. There is an old saying about wrestling with a pig. You both get dirty, and the pig likes it. Game 2 was a lot of muddy puckering. Noles scored early but left guys stranded all day. Great infield work. Good pitching. Anemic at bats. We had it all tucked away and easy, leading 3-1 going to the 9th until I jinxed us with the idea that we could get out before it got dark. As the bases filled I became the victim of finger pointings and you you you you. Hey.... Im sorry I got your blood pressure up, but we won 3-2, and my mustard basted chicken was delicious. Game 3 is a 1 pm first pitch. A sweep vs. middle of the pack in B1G wont help our RPI, but losing would hurt. Go Noles
