This story (from Seth T, one of our housing specialists) is for all of our supporters over the years! @utahsplace #homeless @joinpdx @sisterspdx @sacshoc #withouthousing @withouthousing Several years ago a woman came to Hospitality House for food and shelter after losing access to the apartment where she had lived for more than 7 years. She had been a live-in caretaker and the man she had been caring for died. Since the subsidized apartment they were in had been leased in his name our client was forced to leave. She had stayed at Hospitality House for more than a year, when we received our first Rapid Rehousing grant and she was one of the first folks to get through the program. After much apartment hunting and diligence, she came to the top of the waiting list at the Nevada City Senior Apartments and was accepted and housed there. We helped her move, and the post housing case management portion of our program allowed me to go and visit her on numerous occasions. Each times she expressed how happy and grateful she was. Several weeks ago this same woman walked into Hospitality House, this time to make a donation. She had saved $900 dollars for Utahs Place and presented us with her extremely generous gift. It was a very sweet moment that helped remind us that the work being done here is very important.
