Your thoughts? In my research for the best ways to proceed in searching for Celine, one of the issues that has come up is Vets. They are not required to scan a new client for microchips and they are not legally required to report owners suspected of having a dog that belongs to someone else. Actually, it could be against the law/ethics...client confidentiality, for one... What if there were good samaritan laws that protected the vet/vet practice to protect their business and help missing/stolen dogs get back to their rightful owners? Also, what about the extra time required to scan for microchips AND check the number with the microchip company? Theyd do it for every dog/cat they examine. (A business concern.) Even if they scan for microchips to confirm its still working/still there, they have to contact the company to get the information from that number. It doesnt just pop up.
