Youre more than welcome to join us for this event: At 1 p.m. today at New London High School, Mayor Finizio, Rep. Ernest Hewett and NLHS Principal Tommy Thompson will announce the formation of a four-year, school-to-career public safety academy for students interested in pursuing careers as firefighters, police officers, or EMTs. In addition to a rigorous academic program which will include extra science classes, mentoring, internships, and specialized training, students will have the opportunity to take college-level classes at Three Rivers Community College. This Academy will benefit students looking for public safety careers, and will provide our Police and Fire departments with a talented, motivated, diverse pool of applicants who want to protect and serve New London.
