Youth Learning as Citizen Environmental Scientists is offering an initial grant solicitation to support the efforts of those working with youth on environmental citizen science or student research projects. The deadline for application is January 15, 2015. Implementation Grants will be made in response to proposals and will not exceed $1,000. Those working with youth to do environmental citizen science or student research projects are invited to submit proposals for funding and/or equipment/materials to help their efforts. Grant proposals should be submitted by email to [email protected]. No individual or organization should submit more than one grant proposal at this time. Proposals received by January 15, 2015 will be accepted or rejected by April 15, 2015. In the case of proposals for activities that are on-going or will start before May 1, 2015, YLACES may evaluate and fund or reject these proposals sooner. In general, equipment, supplies, or materials available commercially and included in grant awards will be purchased directly by YLACES and shipped to the grant recipient. All equipment, supplies, or materials should be clearly defined; if specific models or brands are desired, this should be specified. Proposal Content The one-page proposal should state clearly: • Who is making the request and will be responsible for grant implementation; • What is being proposed, including costs; • How the proposal will contribute to youth learning as citizen environmental scientists; and • What results will be reported to YLACES including the evaluation approach and success criteria The resume of the person making the request must be attached. A description of the proposer’s organization or website address must be attached as well.
