Youth Link is a peer mentoring service and aims to improve the lives and well being of young people living in County Durham. Young people are matched with a trained volunteer, who will help and encourage them to explore any difficulties and identify solutions to their problems. Youth Link supports young people through difficult times, helping them to move forward and take up new opportunities. We are currently seeking reliable, trustworthy volunteers aged 16 to 25 Volunteers will be matched with young people aged 11-18 years to provide 1:1 support. This support could include: • Listening in a non judgemental way and talking through problems • Encouraging the development or confidence and self esteem • Supporting a young person to get involved in their community e.g. by attending local groups and activities • Encouraging young people to identify and access specialist support services We require volunteers to commit to a minimum of six months (once initial training is completed), approximately 2-3hrs per week. All expenses paid and training is locally accredited through the Open College Network. All volunteers are subject to an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks and are required to complete a training programme before they start. They will receive ongoing support, training and supervision from their Youth Link Coordinator.
