Youth Supervisor, Youth Custody Services Correctional Services (CO) R16 (Growth) Starting Salary $21.98/hr - $23.25/hr + 1 Grid Temporary Market Adjustment Salary at full working level $25.31/hr - $28.74/hr + 3 Grid Temporary Market Adjustment Temporary, Auxiliary On-Call - As and When Required until March 31, 2015. 12 Positions Available Your confidence and experience assisting youth is your greatest skill, and our greatest asset Working directly with youth in custody who are involved in the youth justice system and reporting directly to the Senior Youth Supervisor, you would carry out duties in a professional manner in keeping with your experience, training and education and according to the Standards of Conduct for Public Service Employees. Drawing from your skills and know-how you will strive to effect positive change for youth housed in a youth custody centre, develop a collegial environment with co-workers, and ensure clear, respectful and constructive communications are maintained with supervisors, youth, service providers, volunteers, family and visitors. By the nature of the position and your strength of character you would maintain trust and honesty with youth in custody, colleagues and on behalf of the Ministry of Children and Family Development. In this safety-sensitive position, it will be your responsibility to maintain rules and standards of good order and discipline within established policies and procedures. You will uphold the custody, safety and supervision of youth in custody while preserving effective control through appropriate human relations skills and, where necessary, authority. Utilizing your expertise in relationship-building you will organize, instruct and supervise youth in custody participating in all centre activities. Perhaps most critical, you will at all times instil a positive influence on youth in custody through appropriate role-modeling, relationship building, behaviour support and leadership while performing other related duties as required. As the custody centre is a 24 hour operation, successful applicants will be required to work evenings/ weekends and a variety of shifts on an as and when required basis.
