Youth against Settlements in Hebron has formed a night-watch group - TopicsExpress

Youth against Settlements in Hebron has formed a night-watch group based at Al-Shuhada Street. The groups goal is to spot the settlers movements and their violations against the Palestinians. This step came after a series of attacks waged by the settlers all over West Bank and their attempts to kidnap Palestinian citizens in order to intimidate the Palestinian families and drive them out of the city center. Evacuating all the Palestinians from the city center will help settlers in achieving their settlement project. Weve noticed that settlers were moving unnaturally in the past few days in the areas adjacent to settlements, so we organized patrols to track them and then we pushed them back to settlements says Muhammed Zoughayer, a Youth against Settlements activist. Zoughayer also added that the early detection of the settlers intention to attack the Palestinians and their properties could help in avoiding such attacks - most of the times - so everyone should take caution, especially who lives close to the settlements in the city center. Zoughayer further added that ‘Youth against Settlements’ is working on propelling night-watch tours in Tel Rmedeh area, Al Shuhada street, the old town, Al Jaabari and Jaber neighborhoods, the areas of Wad El-Ghrous, Al Hussain, Al Nasarah and Al Bweera. He made an appeal to the Palestinian families to call “Youth against Settlements” in case of spotting any settlers gatherings, and to take photos of them with any available cameras. It is worth mentioning that ‘Youth against Settlements’ is a patriotic and youth third party gathering. It works on resisting the occupation and the settlement project through democratic and public participation.
