Youve probably never considered the sort of weird stuff I deal with as the head of our little Meritocracy. Here is an amusing taste in the form of an email I received this morning and my response :) To whom it may concern, My name is Samiat XXXXXX and I am currently working on a BBC series following two young members of English high society and the British aristocracy: Penelope and George Waltham. The program will follow the pair as they embark on a trip across America to explore the difference in culture, tradition and to find out if its somewhere they could make lives for themselves. With a trip to New Orleans planned in February (first week of February), I am looking for journeys and stories they may be able to engage with in the city. With this in mind, we would relish the opportunity for our subjects to meet with some of this years debutantes and, if possible, observe the much respected NOLA tradition - the debutante ball. Do you have debutantes affiliated with the Krewe of Chewbacchus? Is this something you might be interested in? Hi Samiat, We don’t really cater to “High Society” or “Debutantes”. We do throw an absolutely incredible spectacle of BacchanALIEN Reverly of the HIGHEST order that blurs the line between the sacred and the profane and celebrates a new incarnation of the most ancient and sacred Carnival traditions. This year we will debut the great god Chewbacchus, the Sacred Drunken Wookiee himself, at the front of the parade. Our parade will also feature the actor who plays Chewbacca in Star Wars, Peter Mayhew (who is British, btw), AND Andy Richter from the Conan Obrien Show.
