“You’re an anomaly.” Arthos’ left arm twitched. “How do you figure?” “You’re not alive-” “Debatable.” “Youre not. But you still don’t want to die.” “Nothing wants to die.” “There’s the anomaly. If you don’t want to die, why have you activated your self-destruct sequence?” Marqus destroyed Arthos’ left arm as it moved to grab his ankle. A great wave of hot air blasted from out of the robot’s chest as its core vented in preparation for detonation. “Acceptable losses, Quandary!” Arthos laughed as the countdown neared its end. “Law of retaliation, if you will. But I’ll come out ahead!” Tears caused by the heat and whipping wind streamed from the corners of Marqus’ eyes. “No. We’ll be even.” He tore Arthos’ arm free from its socket took it from his wrist. Wrapping his hand in energy, he punctured the bot’s chest and pried it open, exposing the soon-to-be-critical core. “Why aren’t you-?” the self-destruct subroutine crashed Arthos’ speech function, leaving it in confusion as it looked upon the actions of its mortal foe. Marqus closed his eyes, bent his head as if in prayer and, as the core overloaded, whispered, “Bring me to her.”
