You’re probably sick of it. You’ve probably heard it all but tomorrow you will need to make a choice about what kind of Government we have. Whoever you are thinking about voting for, I urge you to do one thing: put the Liberals last (well except for the racist kooks). Why? Because we need a government that will govern for the people and not the powerful interests in the media and mining industries. We need a government who understands that our country is more than an economy; that we must live in a society that based on the principles of equality. I have a beautiful son who has the right to grow up without the spectre of catastrophic climate change and with clean air he can breathe. He has the right to a great education, starting with his early childhood educators and going all the way up, through school and maybe even University or TAFE if that’s what he chooses. He has the right to one day get a job, with decent rights, dignity and a living wage so that he can help provide for his family. And his two amazing mums should be allowed to get married because their relationship and their love is no less important or special than any other couple’s. For me, that means a vote for Labor but the choice is yours. Please – put the liberals last – because that’s precisely where they will put you.
