You’ve heard it before and so have I. As a matter of fact, I heard it just the other day, “I stopped going to church because I had a bad experience.” I said to her, “Yeah, you had a bad experience at Wal-Mart, but you keep going back.” Commitment is a hard thing to find these days. This Sunday, Easter Sunday, the churches will be packed. But how do we keep those CEO (Christmas, Easter Only) visitors coming back; getting committed to church? First, and most importantly, we simply ask them back. We don’t forget about them. We show a genuine interest in their life, their soul and their well-being. I wholeheartedly believe that a church on fire has the power to transform the lives of families throughout our city. A growing, passionate church will have people getting baptized, marriages restored, finances recovered, small groups created and a youth department busting at the seems. But it takes visitors coming back. My prayer this week isn’t that churches will be full on Easter Sunday…that’s a given. My prayer is that churches will be full the week after…and then the week after…and then the week after.
