You’ve left this world. Your body has been covered in dirt and the last few people walk away from what will be your new home until the Day of Resurrection. Silence. What kind of life did you lead? What will your friends and family say about you? The reality is, we may be remembered by a few generations – our children, our children’s children. However after this, we’ll simply be forgotten and disappear from the pages of history. Naked. Alone. We will all enter our graves with nothing but what we said and did in the dunya …the good and the bad. What will benefit us in this state? When time to do good is no more. When tawbah is no longer accepted. We all know this end awaits each and everyone of us. Be a person in this dunya who is actively preparing for that end. By using the dunya to our advantage so that it affects our position on the next life. How? By beginning with the end in mind. By being very specific with how you spend your time. By choosing to follow through with those precious ideas that will become a sadaqa jariah for you. By getting rid of your distractions. By being firm and holding ever so tightly onto your vision for the next life. By constantly begging Allah to make you take the actions here that will lead to prosperity in the next life. This dunya is a gift. We can use it to prepare for a fantastic akhirah. Jannah is available to everyone. The question is do you want it bad enough and are your actions in the dunya proof of that?
