You’ve probably been given messages your entire life that there - TopicsExpress

You’ve probably been given messages your entire life that there is something wrong with you. Messages like, ‘you are a failure’, you are fat and ugly’ or ‘what you think doesn’t matter’. Children believe that they can do anything, until someone comes along and tells them that they can’t. If they trust this person, then they will believe what they tell them, despite the fact that it is untrue. Over time, the faith and belief we have in ourselves becomes eroded and a barrier grows between our hopes and dreams and our perceived reality. The world suddenly becomes a place of lack rather than one of abundance. You need to start to shift your focus away from the lies that you have absorbed as true to the actual truth. The real truth can be supported by evidence. So list between 5 and 10 positive traits that you possess as a person, such as being kind or responsible, being loving and a good friend, being intelligent or spiritual. Then write about why you are each of these traits in such a way that you can read them and say ‘yes, that’s me’. For example: I am spiritual because I believe in a higher power that I can talk to whenever I wish. I believe in Karma, both good and bad, which prevents me from doing anything that might result in the bad stuff coming back to me. I can tolerate others having different beliefs because this doesn’t make my beliefs any less, and I understand that everyone needs to have a belief in something and whatever they believe in is right for them right here and now. Write them somewhere you will be able to find them and when you feel down, re-read them again. These are like the positive affirmations you make, but with evidence.
