Yuma, Ariz. – The Yuma City Council will consider adopting a resolution that would adjust the water and wastewater utility rates as recommended by staff during Wednesdays City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers of City Hall, One City Plaza. If the resolution is adopted, City of Yuma water and wastewater customers could see an increase of three percent annually from 2015 to 2017, then a two percent annual increase from 2018 to 2019. Rate and fee increases are necessary to maintain the current level of utility service, as well as to continue to provide for a modest Capital Improvement Program to replace the Citys aging infrastructure. A failure to increase rates and fees will jeopardize the City Utilities Departments ability to provide the current level of service and will provide no additional funding for future capital projects, according to staff and outside analysis. If the resolution is adopted, the rate adjustments would be implemented Mar. 1, 2015, and subsequent adjustments would be implemented on Jan. 1 in years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. The City Council will also consider allowing the City Administrator, or his designee, to execute an installation agreement and a measurements and verification agreement to upgrade the energy efficiency of 20 City-owned facilities as identified in the scope of work by utilizing a cooperative purchase agreement with the State of Arizona and Climatec, LLC. Additionally, Council will consider authorizing the City Administrator or his designee to execute an agreement with the Arizona Department of Homeland Security for the reimbursement of funds used for overtime and mileage for activities in support of Operation Stonegarden. On other items of note on Wednesdays agenda, the Council may: • Approve a liquor license requests and five special events liquor license requests • Authorize the purchase of two parcels of real property to resolve water drainage issues with Desert Hills Golf Course. Complete agendas of Yuma City Council meetings are available to members of the public at any time, online. Visit the City’s website at yumaaz.gov and click on Public Meeting Agendas on the left.
