Yup, Elder Robbins torpedo this morning detonated in the engine room... Elder Robbins: Starts off with a story about how seventies are not about representing the people to the prophet, but the prophet to the people. Was cautioned to always remember that. When fear of men makes us afraid to condone sin, it becomes a snare. For example, some missionaries don’t want to offend wayward companion by reporting him to mission president. They were confused that they were accountable to God and not companion. Even Joseph Smith at times forgot which way to face by giving in to Martin Harris’ request. We should not fear man more than God. When one tries to safe face with men, they may lose face with God, and serve two masters. True courage is overcoming the fear of man. (I’m not liking this talk). Queen Esther had courage when she faced her husband. Giving all kinds of examples from scriptures where people listened more to people than God. Now he’s giving examples from scriptures where people spoke up without fear, caring more about God than man… Moroni had such great courage that if all men would be like him, the very powers of hell would have been shaken. Prophets have always gotten scorn, because the guilty take it to heart, and are cut to the core (?). It’s guilt trying to reassure itself. Like Korihor who always knew there was a God. The scornful often accuse the prophets of being bigotted and not living in the 21st century. Lowering the Lord’s standards to the peoples’ inappropriate standards is apostasy. Some members don’t realize when they lobby for local or ethnic traditions, or bishops lowering their standards for temple recommends etc. that they’re… (wrong? I missed this part). Christ was the only person who always knew which way to face, and was always about his Father’s business. He was so perfect in representing his Father that seeing/hearing etc. Christ was hearing/seeing his Father. They were one. May his example may strengthen us against the flattery from without or the pitfalls (or something) from within…and remember which is the first and great commandment. (URGH. Not liking this talk. But that’s obviously because of my apostate ways. Doh) feministmormonhousewives.org/2014/10/live-blog-saturday-mornin-session/
