Yvan and I belong to the Good Samaritan Motoring Club and it has been a blessing many times over the last couple of years both for the care and up keep of the Motor Home and our Pick up as well. Every month they send us a magazine filled with tips and stories and reviews of different Motor Homes and of course pictures to drool and dream over. But the magazine also puts out a pitch for a special insurance for motor homes that cover more than the bumper to bumper mechanical stuff but also the things like the toilet or the tanks or the generator or the refrigerator and things like that which can cost some serious dollars if they break down. But when you get down to the fine print if your Motor home is of a certain age then all bets are off and they will not cover you. There in was the straw that stuck in my craw so to speak. That a multi million dollar organization who can provide life flights to its members and drivers to drive your home to any specific address in the lower 48 Alaska Canada and even Mexico if you are incapacitated could not figure away to provide insurance to their members whose Motor Homes were older than 12 years.So I wrote them a 3 page letter not only addressing the complaint but how to correct the complaint. Now what I expected was a nice form letter with a two paragraph response. BUT!! so far I have had two phone calls from Good Samaritans headquarters and the last one was on a speaker phone with one the Vice Presidents who said they get about 50 letters a day with complaints but yours was civil with no profanities, also you proposed a solution and an outline of how the solution would be implemented and what the possible positive cash flow to negative cash flow would be and the marketing effect of this coverage would do for the company. I was impressed hence I wanted to talk to you for no one had ever done this before. SO they are presenting my letter to their Underwriters for a review. There is a Movie called Dave and in the movie he is talking to the Press core and he is talking about Fear and how it can stop you from trying and then he annouces his plan and everyone rolls their eyes but he says this.Ya never know what ya can accomplish unless you try. I tried and my letter is going before the underwriters of the whole Good Sam club you should try to.
