Yves Saint Laurent, a biopic of the man himself set from his beginning in Christian Dior onto his death in 2008. This film is being described as a fashion film but i completely disagree and when you watch it youll understand why. Like Coco Chanels private life Yvess was equally damaged and complex. And also like Chanel his life was ruled so much by love. There is a scene in which Yves tells his lover to be in love is to be in danger, and that also translated so much into his work as a visionary. With all the expectations of him as a genius he battles not only with his manic depression but his lack of life. he throws himself into the scene not only giving him extreme pleasure but also making him dive into a state of addiction, exhaustion and eventual self imposed isolation. told by his life long lover and parter Pierre Berge its a attractive version of his extraordinary and at times extremely dark life.
