ZAMBIA AND IVORY COAST SHARE SPOILS IN GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATION MATCH The Zambia national football team played out a 1 - 1 draw against Ivory Coast in an international friendly match played as part of Zambias Golden Jubilee celebrations at the National Heroes Stadium on Saturday. Ronald Kampamba put the hosts in front at the stroke of half time but the Ivorians were back on level terms after Ousmane Ouattarra equalised with a header in the 54th minute following a corner. Zambia could have restored their lead on 63 minutes but Fackson Kapumbus effort from the penalty spot was saved by goalkeeper Sylvain Gbohouo after defender Ouattarra had handled the ball in the area. Janza gave starts three youngsters Spencer Sautu, Patrick Ngoma and Charles Zulu but maintained the core of senior local players who were part of the squad against Niger. Danny Munyao was preferred to start in goal ahead of Joshua Titima and Satchmo Chakawa while Fackson Kapumbu was part of the back four that included Christopher Munthali, Nyambe Mulenga and Donashano Malama. Janza employed a 4-4-2 formation that had Shadreck Malambo playing in front of the back four and Sautu playing behind the two forwards Ronald Kampamba and Patrick Ngoma. Bruce Musakanya and Charles Zulu were deployed on the right and left wings of the midfield respectively. Janza told fazfootball that he was satisfied with his teams performance. Ideally a second goal would have been good for us but we failed to defend the corner kick and Ivory Coast equalised but I am satisfied with the performance, Janza said. Herve Renard who was playing against Zambia for the first time said his team played well in the first half but Zambia controlled the second. Towards the end of the match I could hardly wait for the referee to blow the final whistle because my team was under siege, Renard said amusingly. Via FAZ Facebook page.
