ZAMBIA U17 GO DOWN 1 -0 TO SAN FRANCISCO UNIVERSITY Zambia U 17 this afternoon lost 1 - 0 to University of San Francisco (USF) girls team at the USF grounds. The hosts, featuring a USA international goalkeeper, started the game strongly with a compact midfield which denied their opponents an opportunity to play their freeflowing football. Chances in this cagey affair were at a premium although USF threatened to break the deadlock early in the game but all their attempts at goal were saved by an alert Zambia keeper, Edina . However towards the end of the first stanza, with the hosts tiring, Zambia U17 managed to crawl back into the game and finished the first half the stronger of the two. In second half, Coach Kachinga made 7 changes and 10 minutes after resumption, USF scored against run of play. The goal galvanised Zambia and despite pressing hard, they could not get an equaliser as poor shooting by the Zambian lasses let the hosts off the hook. After the game Coach Kachinga expressed satisfaction with the general dislay of his charges despite the loss. The USF team with an average age of 19, currently plays in 1st Division of the US college league. On Friday, Zambia take on another potentially strong opponent -University of California in the continued build up towards U17 world cup that kicks off in Costa Rica on 15 March.
