ZAMFARA APC LOSES 3 MEMBERS TO PDP Three key members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State have defected to the People’s democratic Party (PDP). Those that defected are the chairman of Senior Special Assistants Forum in Zamfara State, Alhaji Abdulaziz Abubakar, chairman of the State Councillors’ Forum, Alhaji Nasir Ibrahim Dagaji, and the legal adviser of the National Councillors’ Forum of Nigeria, Alhaji Bashar Muhammad Mainasara. Announcing their formal defection at the PDP secretariat in Gusau, Dagaji who is the councillor representing Mayana ward in Gusau LGA of Zamfara, said the state government has relegated them to mere salary and allowance collectors. “We have decided to join the People’s Democratic Party having been convinced beyond reasonable doubt that it has a better, reliable and dependable agenda for the growth and development of Zamfara State and Nigeria at large because Zamfara government is anti- people and anti-progress and 15 more councillors are coming,” he said. Dagaji said Governor Abdulaziz Yari has refused to re- introduce the Zamfara State Grassroots Development Initiative 10 months after presenting the proposal to him by the forum at his residence in Talata Mafara adding that the governor refused to take into consideration the significance of the initiative in transforming the lives of the rural populace. “A request was also presented to him demanding for our entitlements which include payments of the balance of our furniture allowances, training and provision of operational vehicle for councillors in the state but none of these requests attracted even the flimsiest of response from the governor or his political officials,” he lamented. Responding the chairman of PDP in the state, Sen. Hassan Nasiha said the party would maintain an open door policy to all the party members and assured all the defectors of equal treatment in the party.
