ZESCO UNITED IS STILL A SMALL TEAM IN NDOLA - NDOLA UNITED FAN A Ndola United fan loudly proclaimed yesterday that despite Zesco United winning the 2014 ZSL Title it was still regarded as a small team by many in Ndola. The fan who was watching the match between Red Arrows and Zanaco stated that Zesco had a long way to go to match the likes of Ndola United and even recently demoted Indeni FC in terms of fanbase. The fan remarked Zesco are stealing fans from other clubs, let them grow their own fanbase like how the likes of Strike Rovers and Tazara Express grew their own fanbases. The people of Ndola are sympathetic to Zesco only when they play outsiders but let them play Ndola United and you will see that their allegiances are with the real United of Ndola, The fan who seemed disgruntled with Zescos success also recounted the number of quality players Ndola United had including Kaiser Kalambo, Francis Litana and also stated that Ndola United owed much of its success to former Zambia National Team Coach Ante Buselic who coached Ndola United over 30 years ago and briefly returned to the club in 2010 in an effort to revive it. When Ndola United won a match the whole Masala Market ( Ndolas biggest market) would celebrate with red jerseys everywhere, that was a team. When the fan was questioned why Zesco United are the only team to have won a title from Zambias third biggest town he said. Yes, Zesco have won three league titles and they have done Ndola proud, but they are still not the biggest team in Ndola, we are just waiting for Ndola United to comeback like what Mighty ( Mufulira Wanderers) did and then you will see how we can support a team in Ndola. Zesco United won their fourth title since their promotion in 2004 while Ndola United have yet to win a title and have been in the lower leagues for over 10 years. *This Post is Part of The Series Called ZSL Behind the Scenes and rarely contains names of the of the participants in the Conversations as they usually based on the authors observations during casual conversations that take place when local league matches are being played*
