ZHS Bulletin Monday, January 12, 2015 1/14 - Student Council Meeting 9:00 PAC ACT-SIX Program (A full 4 year tuition scholarship to Heritage U) interviews will be tomorrow in the East Library. Please excuse the following ZHS Seniors follows: 9:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Efren Ponce 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Jenna Lorton 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Idalis Licea Testing for Algebra EOC, Geometry EOC and Biology EOC will be February 3-5. Rosters are now posted in the hall by the Guidance Center. Students who have not passed either Math or Science standards for graduation should check the rosters to see their test assignments. All Juniors who are planning on attending a university and/or who wish to be competitive for scholarships should take either the ACT or the SAT test this June. Now is the time to register to take the tests. ACT information and registration may be found at actstudent.org/regist. If you wish to take this test you must register with ACT before May 8. The June ACT test can be taken at ZHS, Wapato HS, Sunnyside HS or Ellensburg HS. SAT information and registration may be found at sat.collegeboard.org. If you wish to take this test you must register with SAT before May 8. The June SAT test can be taken at Sunnyside HS, West Valley HS, Ellensburg HS and Hanford HS. Notes: • Most colleges and scholarship committees do not care which test you take as long as you have a set of scores. • Register as early as possible for one of these tests. ZHS students who waited May found all ZHS seats filled and had to travel as far as Ellensburg to test. You can avoid the need to travel that far by registering early. • ACT offers a Plus Writing Test option. Some colleges require this, others do not. On the ACT website https://actapps.act.org/writPrefRM/ you can find out if your future college requires this option. • If you are a junior who has not passed their state graduation requirements in Reading, Writing, Science or Math EOC testing, Washington State OSPI will pay for an ACT or SAT test session, if you have never take ACT or SAT in the past. If you score high enough either ACT or SAT tests your score can count for your graduation requirements. See Mr. Griffin before your register. Again Register EARLY! • If you are a junior who qualifies for Free/Reduced Lunch program and if the ACT or SAT testing fee is a burden to your family, you may apply for a Fee Waiver for either ACT or SAT. See Mr. Griffin before you register if you need to apply for a Fee Waiver. Fee Waivers are distributed on a first come first issued basis and are limited by both ACT and SAT. Job Shadow Day is Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Students will be expected to arrive and sign in at Perry Technical Institute between 6:30 and 6:45 AM. Breakfast will be served and we will all be inspired by this year’s speaker from Tesla Motor Company. After the meeting, students will travel to an assigned job shadow in the career of their choosing. Job shadow assignments will be handed out at the meeting unless requested in advance. ZHS students who are interested in participating will need to sign up with Mr. Griffin in the ZHS Guidance Center before February 3. Please Note: This event targets high school juniors but mature/motivated sophomores may attend. All students must provide their own transportation, See Mr. Griffin if you have questions. Drivers Education for summer session sign up in the office. Cost is 295.00. Staff: • Last call for any Regalia upgrades for graduation.
