Re: Steve, Hermann & Donna - back in Scotland, May 2015 So there are a few posts and myself and the hosting ZINs are receiving questions asking why this event cant be somewhere else or go to more places, why is it in Scotland again and asking us to come elsewhere at the same time. WE are not actually running the event or going anywhere, thats not how it works :) This is a group of ZINs putting on an event. The same as YOU, this is NOT an office event. And the event is in Scotland for a few reasons. It was first held in Oct 2013 in Ireland. Donna Murphy & her colleagues at Move Me Ireland asked if wed all come, we were free, we said yes. Thats where our involvement ends other than sharing the marketing given to us. This scale of event is not easy!!!! The girls invested thousands of Euros & a crazy amount of very stressful time to put this size of event on, more than 6 months of paid advertising to get people outside of the ZIN community to attend, as well as the whole of the amazing Ireland ZIN community rallying together to bring bus loads of their students from ALL over, or it wouldnt be able to happen. It may look easy from the outside, but most dont really have an idea the amount of work, time & money required to put an event like this on without actually losing money yourself, or even attracting more than the standard 150 people!! THEN... a Scottish ZIN asked if Donna & Move Me would consider doing it here. Why did it work in Scotland??? Because of demand!! Because of a condensed population & tight community, similar to Ireland. Because the ZES has relationship with this condensed community & stressed that if this was to work, the ZINs cant come on their own the way other areas do, they would need to bring people!! :) Because hundreds of those ZIN members worked their butts off for 8 months to build appeal, energy & buzz around this event & bring many bus loads of their students from N,S,E & W to make it successful. THEY sold it. And then, other ZINs came travelling from England, Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal & Italy to attend!!! The costs of the venue, the staging, the production, the sound & the staff, the insurance, the presenters fees, flight & accommodation, the advertising costs a LOT of money. Want something in your area??? Go out and make it happen, do it yourself, thats exactly what the girls are doing. Be willing to invest huge amounts of your time, & energy for at least 6 months, take a financial risk, make sure you have a professional production, youll need to be a very well known and well connected instructor with a great reputation & draw, with access to at least 600 ZINs who you can guarantee will bring all their students with them in order to pull in the crowds & pull an event of this scale off!! Does it have to be THAT big with 3 presenters?? NO :) You can do it smaller of course with only one presenter, but the process is the same! :) Arrange an event. GO FOR IT!!! ASK who you want to teach. BRING IT to your community, YOU make it happen, just as the others are doing :)
