ZZ Top - Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC ----------------------------------------------- Not too bad of a concert I am not going to be terribly picky when I only paid $35 bucks but regardless here is my review of the show. Opening Act: Flash Lightnin Not too bad reminded me a bit of Led Zeppelin mixed with Queens of the Stone Age a bit. Although, I didnt think they had a signature sound overall they were not too bad. Main Act: ZZ Top ---------------------- The Set List: Got Me Under Pressure Waitin for the Bus Jesus Just Left Chicago Gimme All Your Lovin Im Bad, Im Nationwide Pincushion I Gotsta Get Paid Flyin High Foxy Lady (The Jimi Hendrix Experience cover) Catfish Blues (Muddy Waters cover) Cheap Sunglasses My Heads in Mississippi Chartreuse Sharp Dressed Man Legs Encore: La Grange Tush The Band: They are still ticking and when you have been around as long as they have the songs sound pretty good. It would have been nice to see them get a little more into the show however I will give them a pass on that because they are quite old. The Stage: Pretty basic one large screen on each side of the band (two in total) with the drums in the middle and large purple curtain behind them. As basic as it gets. The Crowd: Quite docile except when ZZ Top played the well known songs (ie. Sharp Dressed Man, Legs). What do you get when you add the following?: 2 Young Lesbians + One Random Mom from the Crowd + Her Son + Dirty Dancing. One hell of a sideshow! During a couple of the songs myself and a few others found ourselves watching them more than the show. Pretty funny. Notable Exceptions from the Playlist: Pearl Necklace, Tube Snake Boogie, Rough Boy, Sleeping Bag, Viva Las Vegas (remake). Sorry I got to give them a bit of grief for not playing two of the most popular songs ever (Pearl Necklace & Tube Snake Boogie) thats totally unforgivable to me and sacrilege. Audience Interaction & Engagement: C Quality and Diversity of Music: B Stage Presence of Band C Energy from the Crowd: C+ Overall Rating: C+ Good but not great however I got to see them before its too late! Thats my review and I am sticking with it!
