Zac Efron confirms talks with makers of JJ Abrams Star Wars: Episode VII Zac Efron has become the latest actor to confirm talks with producers of the new Star Wars film, Episode VII. The High School Musical star told MTV he was keen to join JJ Abrams revival of the long-running space saga but had not yet been informed whether he got the part. I just went and met with them, said Efron. So I dont know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars movies], I love them, but… who knows? Jesse Plemons, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sullivan Stapleton, Liam McIntyre and Simon Pegg are amongst stars who have been linked to roles in Episode VII over the past year, though it might be quicker to list the Hollywood actors who have not been mentioned in connection with the new film. Efron joins Irelands Saoirse Ronan and Fruitvale Stations Michael B Jordan in having publicly revealed auditions: Ronan later hinted that talking openly about the series might have cost her a part. Disney announced a trilogy of new Star Wars films in October 2012 after buying all rights to the long-running space opera for $4.05bn (£2.49bn). The stars of the original trilogy, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) and Harrison Ford (Han Solo), are expected to be centre stage once again in Star Wars: Episode VII, but the only 100% confirmed character is diminutive space droid R2D2.
