Zaccho’s Center for Dance and Aerial Arts (CDAA) San Francisco, August 14th, 2014 – Zaccho’s Center for Dance and Aerial Arts opens for its second year on August 25th 2014. The center was launched in September, 2013 and offers 18 classes with a staff of 11 teaching artists. CDAA offers professional and recreational programs, as well as after school programs for youth and is proudly housed in San Franciscos Bayview Hunters Point district. CDAA classes are defined by the strong curation of founder and award-winning choreographer, Joanna Haigood, and are taught by professional artists in the field of dance, aerial, yoga and acrobatics. Haigood, founded CDAA so that professionals and non-professionals would have a place to train and explore all aspects of dance and aerial. Haigoods innovative company, Zaccho Dance Theatre, has been in the industry for more than 30 years and is known for their aerial flight and site-specific work. CDAA offers more than just aerial dance training. The fall schedule includes Aerial Yoga, Contemporary Brazilian Dance, an after-school aerial and acrobatics program for youth, West African Dance, and Aerial Happy Hour on Friday nights. Teaching artists include Joanna Haigood, Sandia Langlois, Chelsea O Riley, Cohdi Harrell, Helen Wicks, Cassandra Cornell, Ed Johnson, Naby Bangoura, Stephanie Bastos, Hannah Mason and Brandon Kazen-Madox. All classes are semester-based, with additional opportunities for students to take concentrated 3-6 week workshops in aerial and dance instruction.
